Thank You Bamford Suite Derby: Mindfulness for health

Today was our fifth mindfulness for health class at the Derby Nuffield, Bamford suite. Julie (Lead Oncology Nurse) from the Bamford suite has done an incredible job putting on this pilot course and only has more ideas for the future with Rachel and John also. Julie and team are pretty incredible and I can’t thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to attend this course. I have not only found myself through this mindful teaching but learning to use it now in my everyday life making such great changes to my thought process. I have been gifted friends from meeting the other women on the course also. We have all really connected, yes under not great circumstances but we have gelled so well, we all have a great understanding and we help one another. There has been some amazing positive outlooks and change from the moment we walked into the first class and it’s so great to see and more importantly be part of.

As you may know I have been raising money for the Bamford suite so ultimately Julie can use this funding for future plans, adding to their already great structure they have worked so hard to put into place, offering more and more so others like myself can experience these fantastic courses and support. If anyone can make this work the guys at the Bamford suite can.

So thank you for making this journey that little lighter, allowing me to believe and trust in myself and my thoughts, and giving me tools to cope with all that is thrown at me on this crazy life changing journey. Thank you to introducing me to the most amazing  women, women that I honestly feel will be a big part of my life.

I wanted to share this poem with you (I hope you don’t mind Julie) but this pretty much sums up where we are as a group:

Our true heritage

The cosmos is filled with precious gems.
I want to offer a handful of them to you this morning.
Each moment you are alive is a gem,
shining through and containing earth and sky,
water and clouds.

It needs you to breathe gently
for the miracles to be displayed.
Suddenly you hear the birds singing,
the pines chanting,
see the flowers blooming,
the blue sky,
the white clouds,
the smile and the marvelous look
of your beloved.

You, the richest person on Earth,
who have been going around begging for a living,
stop being the destitute child.
Come back and claim your heritage.
We should enjoy our happiness
and offer it to everyone.
Cherish this very moment.
Let go of the stream of distress
and embrace life fully in your arms.
